How we work

  1. 1

    Survey

We come round, look at the surface and take measurements. It costs you nothing and commits you to nothing.

  2. 2

    Quote

You get a fixed price and a fixed number of days, in writing. That price stays put.

  3. 3

    The work

Neatly masked off, tidied up every day. With interior work you simply carry on living there.

  4. 4

    Handover

We walk through the work together with you. The work carried out comes with a two-year guarantee.

Paint we work with

Which system we choose depends on the substrate and on where the work is — a south-west facing facade asks for something different than a stairwell. These are the brands we use most.

Frequently asked questions about painting

What does it cost to have my house painted?

That depends on the condition of the woodwork, and that cannot be judged from a photograph. So we come and look first. After that you get one fixed price and a fixed number of days, in writing. The quote is valid for 30 days and nothing is added to it without your agreement.

How long does exterior paintwork last?

It varies from part to part. A north-facing elevation holds up far longer than a south-west one, and bottom sills and dormers wear fastest — they stand exposed all year round.

What decides the lifespan is not the paint but the preparation. Paint on a badly prepared surface lets go within a few years, however expensive that paint was.

Do you work with water-based paint?

Yes, wherever we can. Water-based systems are kinder to the environment and give off far less smell indoors, so you can use the room again the same evening. On properly prepared wood they last just as long as the old-fashioned alternatives.

If a surface is unsuitable for water-based paint, we say so and choose something else together with you.

Can you paint outside in winter as well?

Partly. Exterior painting needs a dry surface and a temperature above the minimum for the paint system. In frost, rain or high humidity we do not paint — the paint will not bond and the work is money thrown away.

In the cold months a schedule therefore shifts now and then. We tell you in advance, as soon as the forecast points that way.

What happens if there is wood rot under the paint?

Then we stop on that part, show it to you and give a price for the repair. We never paint over rotten wood: it looks good for one season and after that the problem has grown.

Caught early, wood rot is a repair of a couple of hours. Left too long and the whole frame has to be replaced.

Can I stay at home during interior painting?

Yes. We mask off before a single brush is opened — switches, skirting boards, door frames and floors — and cover your furniture. At the end of every day the room is usable and tidy again, even if the work runs over several days.

How much guarantee do you give?

Two years on the work carried out. At handover we walk through the work together with you; any snags we put right within two weeks.

Which places do you work in?

The Hague and Rotterdam, and around them Scheveningen, Voorburg, Rijswijk, Delft, Leidschendam, Wassenaar and Schiedam. Lately we have mostly been working in Rotterdam.

Do you live just outside that area? Ask anyway — if it can be combined with other work nearby, we will do it.
